Dessert Is Served

Irene (Gabriella Moran), a meticulous and lonely thirty-something, hosts a dinner party to celebrate her birthday, though she hides that fact from her guests. Around the table gather her old university friends: an activist desperate for validation, a burnt-out mother-to-be, a performative protester, a spineless "nice guy," an unapologetic Tory troll, and a carefree younger friend who Irene secretly loves. As wine flows, small talk curdles into political point-scoring, hypocrisy, and long-festering resentments. One by one, secrets detonate: affairs, betrayals, ideological contradictions, and humiliating private confessions are dragged into the light. Irene finally snaps, unleashing years of pent-up venom and exposing the fragile facades of everyone present. By the time dessert is served, friendships lie in ruins, marriages are in tatters, and the only flicker of tenderness comes when Irene shares her birthday cake with the one guest who truly sees her.
